I Survived Bonnaroo

I had the pleasure of being selected as one of the three Bonnaroo 2015 Works Fund Externs. As you all know I had a pretty driven Surviving Bonnaroo campaign on the site. Needless to say, I WAS SUPER PREPARED for my first Bonnaroovian experience. I radiated positivity the entire week from slapping high fives with randoms to free hugs, it was a wonderful experience. Minus the 9 AM to 9 PM, 12-hour shifts standing in the sun, I had a groovy time.

The Works Fund of Bonnaroo is the community outreach portion that connects fundraising to art, education and sustainability awareness. When I heard they put the proceeds from the silent auction back out into the local communities’ non-profits I had to apply for the position! I was so happy to have been chosen!

As the Works Fund Extern I was one of many volunteer overseers. Each morning we would empty our storage bin and bring all the items into the Bonnaroo Works Community Center tent. We would hang the signed and sponsored items matching them with their bid sheets and prepare for the day’s crowd. Not only were we conducting a silent auction but we were also giving away free Bonnaroo merchandise to Bonnaroovians who took the Census.

The questions were hilarious and hinted to the light-hearted positivity, conscious-driven attendees that participate year after year. By 8 PM each night the externs and volunteers were swift to pull all the items off the walls and place them in the storage bin for another day. From there we were mapping out our moves from the line-up and map and off we were to survive the night and be prepared for work the next morning to do it all again!

I happened to watch Dej Loaf, Big Freedia, Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino’s sets. I also got an awesome farmers tan and met some cool people, but those posts are coming soon!

TIP 2 : Stay Hydrated!

Bring a water bottle for the day to keep cool and avoid the #thirst ! Cute water bottles are a sleek and chic accessory and necessity when  beating the summer heat during Bonaroo!

TIP 3: Keep It Light

Be prepared and stay hands free the perfect bag to keep belongings safe ! Keep your cash , ID, and that gloss you just CANNOT live without right by your side . Bags that you do not have to carry with your hands are best to decrease chances of placing your bag down and forgetting it or it “walking off without you”. From fun fringe to pretty pastel your look goes to the next level with a complementary bag .

Tip 4: Protect your Eyes

This tip is a big one ! Being outdoors all day ( even when nor looking directly at the sun) can have damaging and straining effects on your eyes. Keep your eyes safe and your look fabulous with the perfect sunglasses .
ALTERNATIVE:  A Hat can also provide protection for your eyes and face from the suns rays .
